Where the Mind is without Fear

This is good poem for kids to learn and understand, by Sri Rabindranath Tagore.
It also explains the importance of how one should live his life. So thought it is important to teach to kids.

 

 

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high

 Where knowledge is free

 Where the world has not been broken up into fragments

 by narrow domestic walls

 Where words come out from the depth of truth

 Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection

 Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
 into the dreary desert sand of dead habit

 Where the mind is led forward by thee
 into ever-widening thought and action

 Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

తెలుగు లో:

ఓ పరమాత్మా,
 ఎక్కడైతే భయము లేకుండా తలెత్తుకొని తిరగగలుగుతారో,

ఎక్కడైతే జ్ఞానము సంపాదించటానికి ఏవిధమైన  నష్టము అనుభవించవలసిన అవసరము లేదో,

ఎక్కడైతే మనుషులు సన్నటి గోడలతో విడిపోయి వుండరో,

ఎక్కడైతే మాటలు నిజపు లోతుల నుంచి పుడతాయో,

ఎక్కడైతే నిస్తేజం లేని శ్రమ పరిపూర్ణత సాధించటానికి దాని చేతులను చాచుతూ వుంటుందో,

ఎక్కడైతే హేతుభద్దత అనే ప్రవాహం దాని దారి తప్పి నిరుత్సహకమైన, ఉపయోగము లేని ఎడారి ఇసుక లాంటి అలవాట్లు  మధ్య ప్రవహించకుండా వుంటుందో,

ఎక్కడైతే ఎప్పటికీ వికసిస్తున్నఆలోచనలు, కర్తవ్యం దిశగా ఎల్లప్పుడూ నీ చేత నడిపించబడతాయో,

అటువంటి  స్వేచ్చ అనే స్వర్గోదయంలోకి నా దేశప్రజలను నిద్రలేపు!

చిత్త శుద్ది కలిగి చేసిన పుణ్యంబు

కొంచెమైన నదియుఁ కొదువగాదు

విత్తనంబు మఱ్ఱివృక్షంబునకు నెంత

విశ్వదాభిరామ వినుర వేమ!

మనసు పెట్టి చేసే ఏ చిన్న మంచి పని ఫలితం లేకుండా వుండదు, ఉపయోగమవుతుంది. అది ఏవిధము గా అంటే చిన్న విత్తనము నుంచే పెద్ద మర్రి చెట్టు పుట్టినట్టు.

Even a small good deed done with whole heartedness will not get wasted and gives results. For example, the big baniyan tree is born from a seed which is very small compared to the size of the tree.

ఆత్మశుద్ధి లేని ఆచారమది ఎలా?

భాండశుద్ధి లేని పాకమేల?

చిత్తశుద్ధి లేని శివపూజలేలరా?

విశ్వదాభిరామ వినుర వేమ!

ఏ ఆచరమైనా ఆత్మ కి అనగా మనసుకి శుద్ధి అనగా మంచి చెయ్యాలి. అలా చెయ్యని ఆచారము అవసరము ఏమిటి?

గిన్నెలు కడుక్కోకుండా ఆ గిన్నెలో చేసుకున్న అన్నము ఉపయోగము ఏమిటి?

మనసు పెట్టి చెయ్యని దేముడి పూజల ఉపయోగము ఏమిటి?

Any custom that is being followed should yeald comfort to the soul. What is the use of the customs that do not provide comfort to soul?

What is the use of food cooked in the vessels which are not washed?

What is the use of praying to God, when there is no focus on those prayers and the God?

గంగిగోవు పాలు గరిటడైనను చాలు

కడివెడైననేమి ఖరము పాలు

భక్తి కలుగు కూడు పట్టెడైననుచాలు

విశ్వదాభిరామ వినుర వేమ!

ఆవు పాలు గరిటడైనా రుచిగా వుంటాయి వాటిని తాగవచ్చు. గాడిద పాలు పెద్ద బిందె తో తెచ్చినా ఏమి ఉపయోగము వుంటుంది?

అదేవిధంగా కడుపు నిండడానికి ఏవో తినకుండా మంచి భోజనము కొంచెము తిన్నా సరిపోతుంది.

A small cup of cow milk tastes better than the taste of having lot of donkey’s milk. Similarly having a small amount of food cooked by a person who likes to feed you is better than eating everthing that is available.
